On August 6, Toyama University of International Studies held its second English Camp for area high school students. Participants included 5 second year students from 3 high schools in Toyama prefecture. In the morning, the students took part in 2 English-only classes focusing on group work and active learning. After that, they had lunch in the school cafeteria and were introduced to TUINS’ English Café. In the afternoon, 24 first year English students from TUINS participated with the high school students in English games and activities. After that, a professor from TUINS gave a short lecture in English on interesting points in her field of study.
It was a long day but the high school students worked hard to use and understand English throughout all the activities. We hope that the participants could get a taste of academic English while also getting a sense of the power of English for their futures.
Thank you everyone for your participation and support!
